The project is anchored in the idea that one defines oneself not simply on the basis of what one has and what one is, but also based on what one lacks and is missing, what one desires or what one aspires to. Like a darkroom, it explores as so many fragments, thin slices of reality, which reveal themselves like the negative of a photo, reversing the whole palette of colours, from the subtlest to the loudest. The consistency of a deep language appears, that of passions. Nourished by the experience, energy and background of each of the dancers, we dive into a performance of extremes that shows society as it is today. We observe the violence of contrasts mixing up ostentatious wealth (glitz, vacuousness and loss of meaning), precariousness and the fight to survive. It is always about questioning our relationship with the world, revealing the contradictions with aloofness, humour and derision. To render palpable the emotion that escapes all rational analysis, relying also on what can fail: areas of shadow, cracks and the subconscious. A composition is devised, deliberately deconstructed, made of clean, forceful temporal breaks in which the free entanglement of ideas and the association of scenes do not follow any narrative thread. Like our dreams, where a succession of singular elements suddenly appear, connected without any clear logic.

The project will explore different forms of interaction between film and sound, linked to the presence and movement of dancers. Preparatory workshops during the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 seasons will explore new live image production techniques and test the materials on which they are projected, avoiding standard projection screens. Words will have a substantial place in the elaboration of the sound material. Sound analysis and synthesis techniques will be linked to sensors (accelerometers, gyroscopes and magnetometers) and contact mikes integrated in stage elements handled by the dancers or carried by them
